Villanucci is a native of Lorain, Ohio. He attended the University of Cincinnati, where he obtained a degree in engineering. Soon after graduation, he became a stand-up comedian, and toured throughout the United States and Canada. He eventually landed in Los Angeles where he was a writer for the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. That led to a career in talk radio. Prior to KKOB, Jim was heard on Hot Talk 105.1 FM in Las Vegas, KDWN 720 AM in Las Vegas, and KOGO AM 600 in San Diego.
